Ichiro Suzuki passed Pete Rose today with two hits against the San Diego Padres (yes it still counts as a hit even though it happened against the Padres).
The hit is the 4,257th in Ichiro’s career. The former Seattle Mariner played for 8 seasons in Japan with the Orix Blue Wave where he had 1,278 of his career hits from 1992 through 2000. Ichiro played all 951 games with the Blue Wave and hit .353 with 118 home runs.
When Ichiro came to Seattle in 2001 he won the American League Rookie of the Year and MVP Award. During his 16 season in the MLB, Ichiro now has 2,799 hits, with a .314 career average with the Mariners, Yankees, and Marlins.
