Three minor league pitchers suspended for PEDs

Three minor league players received 56-game suspensions Friday after testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs.

St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Kener Perez, San Diego Padres pitcher Ibrahyn Jimenez and free agent pitcher Yonathan Frias were suspended for violating the drug prevention and treatment program for minor league players assigned outside of the United States and Canada.

Perez, 19, is a right-hander from Colombia who is currently on the Cardinals’ Dominican Summer League roster. He tested positive for Stanozolol, according to the commissioner’s office.

Jimenez, 17, is a left-hander from Colombia who is assigned to the Padres’ Dominican Summer League roster He tested positive for Nandrolone.

Frias, 18, is from the Dominican Republic and was previously on the Atlanta Braves’ Summer League roster there. He tested positive for Boldenone.
