Titans to grant S Jamal Adams’ request for release

The Tennessee Titans agreed to release three-time Pro Bowl safety Jamal Adams, his agents told ESPN on Thursday.

Adams, who celebrated his 29th birthday on Thursday, signed a one-year deal with the Titans on July 11. He was reunited with defensive coordinator Dennard Wilson, who was his defensive backs coach during his Pro Bowl seasons in 2018 and 2019 with the New York Jets.

Adams, who also was named to the Pro Bowl in 2020 with the Seattle Seahawks, recorded four tackles while playing in just 20 snaps over three games (one start) this season for Tennessee. He recently was placed on the non-football injury list.

Adams made 48 tackles while being limited to just nine starts for Seattle in 2023 due to a concussion. The 2017 first-round pick (sixth overall) has posted 498 tackles, 21.5 sacks, seven forced fumbles and four interceptions in 83 games (81 starts) with the Jets (2017-19) and Seahawks (2020-23).
